Economic Vitality

Owning and operating a small business in Simi Valley for the past 25 years, Steve Sojka understands the complex issues of our local economy and will continue to work on attracting a diverse business base with high paying jobs to enhance the economic vitality for all of Simi Valley.  Steve is always helping our local businesses by serving as Chairman of the City’s Small Business Advisory Committee.

Steve Sojka also understands the importance of providing local residents with a mix of shopping opportunities, which helps avoid long drives to other communities and keeps sales tax revenues in town to help fund more services and amenities for local residents and families.

Steve has been a member of the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce since 1985, and served as its Vice President in 1996-97.  Steve Sojka is also currently leading the efforts of the Shop Simi Valley First campaign to promote the benefits to our community by shopping locally.

Steve Sojka in the Los Angeles Daily News on Feb. 28, 2005:  “We want to promote and educate people on the advantages of shopping locally.  When you buy something here in town, the tax base goes to our general fund, which pays for our Police Department, paves roads … We know you can’t buy everything here in Simi Valley, but at least give Simi Valley a chance and help the community.”

Through the leadership of Steve Sojka, members of our community are now able to buy a men’s suit, fine women’s jewelry, or most high-tech computer equipment and big screen televisions in Simi Valley.  Through Steve Sojka’s continued work, we not only keep sales tax revenue local, we are attracting tax revenue from other communities as well.
